The activity report of the Department of Non-Periodic Publications of the Main Office for the Control of the Press, Publications, and Public Performances for the year 1968

Abstract

This document concerns one of the most important political event in communist Poland, i.e. March 1968. The report comes from the collection of the II Department of Culture, Central Committee of the Polish United Workers’ Party, and is stored in the Central Archives of Modern Records, signature 1859. The document reveals how broad was the range of control of books and literary or research journals in that time, and how domestic political events influenced multiplied vigilance of the censors, even towards these authors who did not act against the authorities in 1968.
