Abstract

The Diocesan Seminary in Rzeszów and its library were established in 1993. 29 early printed books with interesting provenance and beautiful binding can be found in its collection. The author is interested in watermarks, i.e. filigrees in these books. The article starts with general knowledge on filigrees and their catalogues (e.g. Karol Teodor and Wisso Weiß catalogue including 173 000 and 42 000 redraws of watermarks), then the author describes and presents graphic watermarks found in the early printed books from this collection, imprinted in the Netherlands, Germany, France and Poland. Importantly, presented filigrees often have not been found by the Author in comparative material, what leads to the conclusion that they may be published for the first time in this article.
