Abstract

In 1796, on the order of Catherine II of Russia, the collections of the Załuski Library –  the most important Old Polish library, the first one of a national character – were moved to Petersburg. The author aims at collection and systematisation of sources concerning the Library’s collection. Those concerning prints and manuscripts are grouped separately. Sources concerning early prints include: printed and handwritten catalogues of prints from different periods, documents from library archives, research publications, announcements on stolen copies, dispersed prints. Those concerning manuscripts consist of: printed and handwritten catalogues of manuscripts from different periods, library correspondence, appeals and memorials, scientific journals and other information materials, research publications, researchers’ workshop materials, researchers’ correspondence, transcripts, source editions, dispersed manuscripts.
