Abstract

The church library in Borek Wielkopolski (today: the Virgin Mary of Borek Sanctuary at Zdzież) was established in the 17th century for the needs of local clergy, by priest Feliks Durewicz, first rector of the Borek parish in the years 1606-1646. The subject of author’s research is the remained small part of this collection: 1 incunabulum and 86 early printings, stored in the Archdiocesan Archive in Poznań. Rich provenance material is the particular value of these volumes. The author estimates that during Durewicz’s life the library amounted to more than 1000 volumes, including incunabula. In the article he tries to reconstruct fragments of a history of this collection, for examples the most valuable codexes preserved until today are listed and handwritten provenances described, basing on the provenance material analysis.
