Printings grew up and fulfilled many functions in the 18th century. They were disseminated and collected in an unprecedented amount due to increased publishing activity. Books, magazines, ephemera, official printings became a part of numerous libraries, while their bibliographic description leaves a lot to be desired. Concealment of author, publisher, or publishing date is common in these printings, and sometimes justified by circumstances. These puzzles can become a goal of interesting scientific explorations during collections description. The author offers authorship or publishers of a few printings of the 18th century, discussing on selected examples a much wider problem of a book knowledge workshop, as well as its potential for bibliographic or historic and literary settlements.
