Abstract

The typographic output of the Piotrkowczyk family printing house consists of 650 titles published in the years 1577-1645, although only 41 prints included title or text illustrations, and only 12 from among them with decorated with copperplate figures. The article discusses topics of book illustrations used by this printing house, typical for the community of Cracow typographers of that time. Xylographic technique dominated, and the copperplate had been slowly introduced. The author presents also the cooperation of the Cracow printers with one of the main baroque painters in Poland - the Italian painter Tomasz Dolabella.
