The article starts with the statement that although photographs can be found in many Polish museums, libraries, and archives, each of them treats them differently, with individual inventory and cataloguing system. It refers also to the photographs documenting literary life. The author focused her research on those documents collected in three Warsaw institutions, the most representative for the topic, i.e. the National Library of Poland, the Adam Mickiewicz Museum of Literature in Warsaw, and the House of Literature Library. She found out that the photographs documenting current literary life are poorly indexed, as well as information about the collection, availably mostly for the experts: journalists, researchers, and writers. Thus the author concludes with a postulate of promotion of these iconographic materials concerning Polish literature, in particular for education purposes.
