Cooperation of the Office of the Government Plenipotentiary for the Polish Cultural Heritage Abroad with the eastern neighbours

The IVth Forum of Polskie Towarzystwo Bibliologiczne [the Polish Bibliological Society - PBS] "Protection of the European and national written heritage" took place on December 2, 1997, participated by Polish and Ukrainian libraries. J. Miler, Head of the Department in the Office of the Government Plenipotentiary for the Polish Cultural Heritage Abroad in the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage in Warsaw gave a speech. In his presentation (the article is its shortened version) he described works of the Polish-Belarusian and Polish-Ukrainian mixed commissions for cultural heritage, addressing (among others) libraries, revealing and restitution of cultural property. The article presents also the works of the Office itself: documentation, conservatory, construction, and developing of inventories of the monuments, funded by the Office, and realized mostly at the Eastern Borderland of the former Republic of Poland, now belonging to Lithuania, Belarus, and Ukraine.
