Abstract

The IVth Forum of Polskie Towarzystwo Bibliologiczne [the Polish Bibliological Society – PBS] "Protection of the European and national written heritage" took place on December 2, 1997, participated by Polish and Ukrainian libraries. M. Kocójowa discussed problems related to the program of electronic documentation and dissemination on the Internet of information concerning Vilnius collections of manuscripts. The realization of this program, developed by the team from the Institute of Library and Information Science, the Jagiellonian University, had been planned for the years 1997-1998. It was aimed to develop the Internet database based on the "Guide to the manuscripts collection in Vilnius" edited by M. Kocójowa, published in 1993, and consisting of 1561 descriptions of sets of manuscripts, amounting often to hundreds of inventory units, and being an important heritage of the European culture.
