Abstract

The article presents an introduction to alphabetic catalogs of the library of the Greek-Catholic chapter in Przemyśl, developed in 1846. The chapter library consisted of more than 17 000 books at that time. The author of this introduction was Tomasz Syrus Polański, the chapter curator of that time, further bishop of the Greek-Catholic rite of Przemyśl. The introduction includes the history of the chapter library and the methodology of cataloging the collection. An extensive part of the text Polański devoted to the librarian’s duties. The author states that the introduction to the catalog makes Polański one of the Polish methodologists of librarianship in the first half of the 19th century.
