The Holy Cross Sermons as an Object of Philological. Analysis: Textual and Transmissions Issues

Abstract

The author addresses issues pertaining to the philological analysis of the Holy Cross Sermons. He discusses in detail the functions and the significance of the transcription and transliteration of the original text, and of the photographs included in the critical edition. He stresses that the monument, as it has reached us, is a copy of a copy, and that the insertions and corrections there functioned as glosses in the original, and should be analy sed as such. Moreover, Mika is of the opinion that all the results obtained in previous inquirvies should be verified in accord with this observation.
