The article concerns the German lending library in Warsaw of the Spiess family of pharmacists. The author, referring to the preserved catalogue of this paid library, published at the beginning of the 30s. of the 19th century, reconstructed its book collection, and described the rules of its functioning (it was open on Wednesdays and Saturdays, 8.00 a.m. - 5.00 p.m., 4 volumes to lend in a monthly subscription for 4 PLN). The most likely it was the only German lending library in Warsaw.
