Opinions about reading habits of the Polish youth in the period of the Polish Kingdom (1815–1830)

Abstract

The book historians, discussing issues of reading in Poland in the 19th century, mostly refer to the scope and dissemination of publications, and interpret texts of diarists and journalists of that time. In the author's opinion, the source material should be completed with opinions of the then contemporaries, regarding the development of reading tastes or fears about inadequate reading. The article discusses opinions concerning the reading of the youth, as an example of this phenomenon.
