The book collection of the Łódź Medical Society for the years 1896-1939

Abstract

The article presents the history and structure of the book collection of the Łódź Medical Society, active since 1896. Information and guidelines concerning library activity were recorded in the Society's Act of 1886. The collection started with the donation from the medical doctors from Lublin. As the report for the year 1898 states, the library amounted to 1557 volumes, and in 1927 - 4543 volumes and collections of photographs. After World War II, the library was incorporated into the Library of the Medical Academy of Łódź.
