The role of collectors in the distribution of subscriptions of scientific writings in the first half of the 19th century

Abstract

The article aims to present the distribution of subscriptions, but firstly to explain the role of individual people (called the collectors) in publishing activities. The conclusions come from studies on subscriptions and the subscribers of scientific writings published in the Kingdom of Poland in the years 1800-1863. The analysis reveals that the individuals played an important role in distributing subscriptions of any scientific writings, popular regardless of the topic of the publication.
